Arjun Patiala

Solid: Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma, Sunny Leone

Director: Rohit Jugraj

The makers of Arjun Patiala have clearly thrown warning to the wind and indulged in a care-a-damn perspective. They’ve given absolute hoots to the critics — a truth that’s blatantly spelt out by the tip of the movie.

This screwball comedy, designed as a buddy-cop movie, is a large letdown. You’ll benefit from the humour if it was intelligently mounted. Sadly with a perfunctorily-designed plot, flippant graphics and absurd gags, the tip result’s a yawn.

The movie begins with a struggling director coaxing a potential Producer (Pankaj Tripathi) to again his movie. After making certain the requisite components for successful movie — one in all which is the presence of Sunny Leone — the producer greenlights the mission with out even listening to the script. This, although the director desperately desires the producer to listen to his story.

The story is about Arjun Patiala, a judo champion who hero-worships IPS Officer Amarjeet Singh Gill. Following his recommendation, and after successful a judo championship, Arjun lands a job as a sub-inspector below the sports activities quota.

He’s posted because the station home officer in Ferozepur, the place he’s assisted by “munshi” (head constable) Onida Singh. Their purpose is to make Ferozepur a crime-free district.

Sunny Leone is woven into the narrative when she seeks Arjun’s help, and he comes ahead to assist her. Then, hastily, the director informs his producer; “Yahaan Sir, completely for no motive, we break into an merchandise quantity.” Nonetheless, the merchandise track lacks gusto to breathe life into the narrative.

In between wiping off crime from the district, Arjun finds time to romance Ritu Randhawa (Kriti Sanon), a journalist. How he introduces her to his mother and father and cements his relationship provides to the jamboree. Each monitor within the kooky script, which incorporates contrasting tones that circle round sentimental and playful performances, is flat.

Diljit Dosanjh is affable however profoundly bland as Arjun Patiala. Varun Sharma as Arjun’s side-kick Onida and Kriti Sanon as Ritu Randhawa are tolerable.

Seema Pahwa as MLA Prapti Makkad, Ronit Roy as IPS Amarjeet Singh Gill, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Sakool — in any other case gifted actors — are wasted.

The music is immensely forgettable, and the track ‘Sanson ki zaroorat hai jaise” is intermittently used all through the movie.

Total, this movie had the potential to be comedian caper. Trite humour, and a hackneyed and lazily-crafted plot, spells doom for Arjun Patiala.

Score: 1.5/5
