Govt permits exports of soaps, cleansing preparations, not alcohol-based hand sanitizers

NEW DELHI: The federal government on Wednesday freed the exports of hand sanitizers besides these that are alcohol-based to spice up its availability within the home market amid coronavirus pandemic.

“Solely alcohol primarily based hand sanitizers are prohibited for exports,” directorate basic of overseas commerce (DGFT) mentioned in a notification.

The alcohol-based sanitizers are efficient in killing the novel coronavirus.

On March 24, India had prohibited the exports of hand sanitisers, soaps, washing and cleansing preparations, disinfectants and medicaments. It had additionally banned the export of ventilators, synthetic respiratory equipment, oxygen remedy equipment, and some other respiratory equipment as a result of coronavirus scare within the nation.
